P2.8-M sought for information office upgrade

OFFICER-in-charge Bong Aportadera of the City Information Office (CIO) has submitted a budget proposal of P2.8 million for the improvement of the CIO operations.

"This would basically be for the procurement, upgrading of our equipment, and for the expansion of our capabilities in line with City Mayor Inday's (Sara Duterte) agenda," Aportadera said.

Aportadera also said they are looking at taking over the room of the Commission on Audit at first floor of the City Hall.

"We would want to create a creative media unit to work alongside the news production unit. This will be for production use, creative media, archiving system. We want to make sure the city has a proper archiving system sa CIO," he said.

The CIO would provide its own news production with 32 personnel instead of 12.

"We would have reporters, graphic and layout artists, and an archive officer. The reporters would go to our separate city departments and find out their plans and programs, their development, and their checks and balances. Gusto ni Mayor Sara nga everything would fall under her Barog program and we too could provide kanang saktong information (extensive information)," he said.

They will also revive the city newsletter, which will contain news about the performance of the City Government.

Aportadera said he plans the city-paid television show "Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa" to return airing in two major television channels by August.

"Hopefully by August, Gikan Masa will go on air in both ABS-CBN and GMA. We will be producing the show ourselves with the use of new equipments and we will just forward the material to these two channels for airing," he said. (Jade C. Zaldivar)
