NCAA: San Beda rules first half (5:22 p.m.)

MANILA -- Size advantage and deep bench proved pivotal for San Beda as the Recto-based squad dominated archrival Letran in the first half of the 86th NCAA men’s basketball at the Arena in San Juan.

The Red Lions, who are seeking an immaculate 4-0 card in the tournament, leaned on veteran guard Garvo Lanete and Jake Pascual for the early head start.

Lanete scored eight points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals while Pascual chipped in six points, alongside David Marcelo and Adler de la Rosa.

Kevin Alas paced the Knights with eight points on his first nine minutes.

Meanwhile, Arellano arrested a three-game losing skid by ripping Perpetual Help, 86-67. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
