Pampanga cops hold education drive

PORAC -- The Provincial Police Office has launched an education project dubbed “Pulis Ko, Teacher Ko” through its Police Community Relations (PCR) branch.

Police officers from the Porac Police Station and the Provincial Police Office acted as instructors of Aeta children during the conduct of the outreach program in Barangay Planas here.

Pampanga police PCR head Ricardo David said that one of the advocacies of his office is to reach out to less fortunate citizens.

David said that some parents are incapable of sending their children to school because of financial difficulty or their location far from schools.

Town police PCR chief Ryan David facilitated the instruction of Aeta children under the overall supervision of Senior Superintendent Petronio Retirado, acting provincial police director.

Retirado said the activity is centered on educating the cultural minorities (Aetas) living in the far flung areas like Barangay Planas.

Volunteer teachers from the Department of Education (DepEd) Alternative Learning System led by Daisy Gubat and David Ba-Alam, assisted the cops in the conduct of the classes.

Writing materials were also distributed to the students who participated in the activity.

A feeding program was also conducted by the group during the event. (Reynaldo G. Navales)
