A 53-YEAR-OLD man was nabbed for violation of illegal possession of firearms by the members 62nd Infantry Battalion in Sagay City last Tuesday afternoon.
Sagay City Police officer-in-charge Gabriel Gutierrez identified the suspect as Rizalde Bullag, of Sitio Tigib, Barangay Malubon, Sagay.
Gutierrez said the 62nd Infantry Battalion led by 2Lt Joetter Doctolero had recovered from the possession and control of the suspect one caliber 45 pistol with serial number 11322 with seven rounds of live ammunition, one carbine M2 rifle with serial number 69599 with 21 live bullets, and one homemade shotgun containing four rounds of live ammunition.
He said the suspect is presently detained at the lock-up cell of the Sagay City Police Station pending the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 8294 or the amended Firearms Law in court.

In Bacolod City, two suspects were nabbed by virtue of warrants of arrest for violation of the Comelec gun ban on illegal possession of firearm and qualified theft Wednesday morning by the members of Police Station 2 led by Inspector Jeffrey Attunaga.
Atunnaga identified the arrested suspects as Joel Arnaiz alias "Sidewalk", 18 years old, of Purok Sto. Nino Stop, Barangay 3, Bacolod City, and Jaypee Pasco alias "Ago", 27 years old, of Abada-Escay, Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City.
Attuanga said the warrant of arrest of Arnaiz was issued by Judge Ray Allan Drilon, Branch 41, of Regional Trial Court for violation of Comelec Resolution number 8714 or gun ban in relation to Republic Act 7166 and violation of Republic Act 8294 or illegal possession of firearm. Drilon fixed the bail at P12,000 and P60,000 for the two offenses, respectively.
The suspect is presently in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare Development at the Social Development Center.
Judge Gorgonio Ybanez of Branch 48 of the Bacolod RTC issued the warrant of arrest of Pasco for qualified theft. The suspect is presently detained at Police Station 2 lock up cell.
Meanwhile, a 20-year-old security guard was held-up Wednesday morning at Palma Dormitory, 17th Street, Barangay 17, Bacolod City.
Police Station 2 chief Inspector Jeffrey Attunaga identified the victim as Maximo Moral, of Sitio Tayap, Barangay Patag, Silay City.
Attunaga said that the robber took the victim's issued shotgun and wallet containing P1,000. The suspect was armed with a 45 caliber pistol.
On the other hand, an 18-year-old student was victimized by a snatcher at Reclamation Area Wednesday morning. The suspect took the victim's cell phone.
