No re-assignment yet for DPWH engineers

There is no re-assignment order yet for the District Engineers of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as of this time, said First Highway Engineering District Engineer Sanny Boy Oropel.

Oropel admitted that the re-assignment is expected because, during their recent meeting with new DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson, the secretary said that there will be change in the department.

The re-assignment is expected to involve the regional directors. It might also affect the assistant regional directors and district engineers.

Oropel stated that, as a good soldier, he is ready to abide by the order, though he believes that, under his care, the First Highway Engineering District was able to perform well and has in fact even surpassed the targets of the agency.

"I can leave with flying colors," Oropel said.

Aside from meeting the targets set by their national office, Oropel revealed that he also implemented personnel upliftment programs. He also introduced outreach programs where his office extended charitable endeavors, especially during Christmas Season when they conducted food giving in some communities and institutions like the home for the aged.

He believed that, if there is re-assignment, it should be based on the performance of the public servant.

Oropel dispelled rumors that he was already assigned in Mindanao.

"Those were only speculations," he said. (Teresa Ellera-Dulla)
