MYX channel bares new VJs

THE leading music channel in the country, MYX, named three new faces in its hosting lineup following the proclamation of winners in MYX VJ Search 2010 Wednesday.

Held at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, the Finals Night was well attended by supporters, friends, and families of the 12 finalists.

MYX VJs, namely, Iya Villania, Nikki Gil, and previous MYX VJ Search winners Robi Domingo, Bianca Roque, Chino Lui Pio, Janine Ramirez, and Nel Gomez hosted the special event.

Winners of the search were Robin Nievera, Julz Savard, and Ton Vergel de Dios.

The Final 12 composed of Andrew "Andy" Smith, Angelle Rosette "Anj" Uy, Dane Jarlo "Dane" Hipolito, Maria Isabel "Issa" Perez de Tagle, Joshua "Josh" Katigbak, Juliann "Julz" Savard, Kirsten Jane Rice, Katrina Margaret Espe, Christine Angela "Mana" Manalaysay, Gabriel "Marco" Manalac, Robin Nievera and Jose Antonio "Ton" Vergel de Dios rendered song and dance number for everyone.

Minutes before the announcement of winners, special prizes were awarded to Kirsten Rice as the Charmee Girl of the Night, Ton Vergel de Dios as the S3 winner and Mana Manalaysay bagged the Garnier Face of the Night.

Julz Savard, the 19-year old Creative Writing student from Ateneo de Manila University, was the first MYX VJ winner to be called.

"I thought I may have had a chance. That's my thought during the whole MYX experience kasi binigay ko naman yung best ko," she said.

After Julz, Ton Vergel de Dios, the 21-year-old rocker and Communication student from Ateneo de Manila also, was named as the second newest MYX VJ.

"I'm really happy to be with MYX family kasi feeling ko dito na ako lumaki and I'm watching it eversince," he said.

Robin Nievera, son of Pops Fernandez and Martin Nievera, was the last name to be called to join the 2010 MYX family.

"I'm super shock, I didn't know that I'm going to get it at all but I'm super super happy," he said.

Robin earned a lot of thumbs up during the finals night after he has shown everybody his knack for comedy and talent in singing.

The three received a six-month contract with MYX Philippines wherein they will be VJs in different shows and segments of the music channel.

During the event, Pinoy Big Brother ex-housemate Bret Jackson was also introduced as guest VJ for the next three months. He will host Mellow, Rock and Pop MYX starting this Sunday, July 25.(Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
