Pagdilao to visit Bacolod today

WESTERN Visayas police Director Samuel Pagdilao Jr. will arrive Friday in Bacolod City in his first visit to Negros Occidental province since took over as head of the regional police unit.

Negros Occidental police spokesman Rico Santotome Jr. said Thursday that Pagdilao will attend the command conference scheduled for 9 a.m. at East View Hotel, Barangay Villamonte.

He said Pagdilao will be accorded arrival honors during his visit at the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Noppo).

Noppo Director Manuel Felix will lead in welcoming and providing arrival honors to the region's top police official.

Santotome said that Pagdilao will also grace the blessing of various renovated offices of Noppo at Camp Montelibano.

Pagdilao will also pay a courtesy call on Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. at the Provincial Capitol.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City Police officer-in-charge Celestino Guara said that Pagdilao is set to meet with members of the local media and to with them stringent measures against media threats and killings.

Guara was recently tasked by Pagdilao to verify the alleged threats on two mediamen based in Negros Occidental and to provide them with security.

Radio Mindanao Network senior reporter Larry Trinidad and Visayan Daily Headlines Negros Bureau chief Jaime Lim claimed last week that they had received threats through text messages.
