Cops ask for motorcycles

THE Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) has requested 15 units of motorcycles from the City Government to augment its operation.

The police office noted a series of robbery in the city where the suspects used motorcycles as their getaway vehicles.

Cocpo Police Director Benedicto Lopez said Cocpo must also possess motorcycles to track down suspected criminals.

"If criminals have been successful in doing crimes by using motorcycles, maybe the police would also be successful in running after them using motorcycles," Lopez told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.

Lopez's proposal was already submitted to the office of Mayor Vicente Emano as he expressed optimism that the City Government would grant their request.

In his campaign against criminality, Lopez is bent on putting up a quick response team as one of the police's preventive measures.

He also stressed that motorcycle-riding criminals are not only the problem of Cocpo, but of all police offices in the Philippines. (Annabelle L. Ricalde)
