Korina open for return to news reporting

AFTER months of helping in the campaign of her husband former Senator Mar Roxas, broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez is ready to go back in news and public affairs.

Korina handed her leave last year after she decided to walk down the aisle with Roxas before the latter resolved to run for vice president.

“Ready na akong bumalik, it now depends on anong babalikan ko, anong pwede. I don't see any reason why I can't go back to former platforms pero depende parin yun sa sensitivity ng corporate stand,” she said.

But as far as ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs head Maria Ressa is concerned, she believed that one-year break after the campaign is needed.

“A good rule of thumb for us is exactly what happens in government when you run for office. You campaign, and you either don't get the office or you resign in the process. There's a one-year rule,” she said.

“I think it's a good rule for us to take on because in the campaign, while Korina herself did not run for office, she also campaigned. It will be hard to think that she will be able to say reports on Vice President Binay. So a one-year break and we'll assess again," she reiterated.

Korina is still thankful to ABS-CBN because the network allows her to retain "Rated K" program even though she was campaigning in January until May.

When asked on her married life, Korina shared that there are less misunderstanding between her and Roxas because they have known each other pretty well.

“Masaya. There's emotional stability, may emotional security. I think its really the right time to settle down kasi may edad na kaming pareho at hindi na kami petty kaya wala na kaming pinag-aawayan," she said. (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
