1 dies, 2 hurt in Bogo shooting

THREE members of an anti-criminal group in Bogo City were shot by two men on a motorcycle Thursday night.

One of them was killed while two were wounded and are confined in a hospital in Cebu City.

Alexander Suson, 22, died of a gunshot wound in the forehead while Norvin Alburo, 22, and Daniel Nailon, 21, suffered gunshot wounds in their legs and body.

Police recovered 26 empty shells and several deformed slugs fired from a 9mm machine pistol in the area around P. Rodriguez St. in Barangay Poblacion, Bogo City.

The shooting of members of the City of Bogo Anti-Criminal Task Force (Cbactaf) has prompted Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Lani-o Nerez to create a special investigation task force to solve the crime.

The task force is composed of the Regional Intelligence Division, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7, Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch (PIDMB), Provincial Intelligence Branch, Scene of the Crime Operations (Soco) 7 and the public information officer of the PRO 7.

Yesterday, the PIDMB proceeded to the hospital to interview the survivors while the PIB was sent to Bogo City with Soco 7.

Cebu Provincial Police Chief Erson Digal told reporters it was too soon to say if the shooting was related to several strafing incidents that occurred in Bogo City during the election period.

Gunman

However, he said one of the victims was able to identify the gunman.

Digal said he cannot reveal the details of the case yet as pursuit operations were ongoing.

The case will serve as a challenge for the new chief of police, Chief Insp. Alvin Balio, who was just designated officer-in-charge Thursday morning.

He replaced Supt. Julian Entoma, who is undergoing further studies.

Balio said Bogo City Mayor Celestino “Junie” Martinez Jr. told him to exert all efforts to solve the case.

The three Cbactaf members were reportedly roving the area when they were shot by two men on a black motorcycle.

They were dressed in their light blue Cbactaf uniforms.

The Bogo City Police Station also sent a team to go to the families of the victims in Barangays San Vicente, Bungtod and Binabag to get the background of the three from their families and neighbors and come up with possible motives for the attack.
