Losiaboi, Tabal win 2nd STC Run

KENYAN Simon Losiaboi and Mary Joy Tabal took the men and women’s 8K titles in the St. Theresa’s College (STC) Move with AIR 2 yesterday at the school’s campus.

Tabal clocked 31:55.29 to clinch the title by over a minute against Madelyn Carter (32:14.26). Mereeis Ramirez (35:41.77) got the third spot, while Gerly Rose Baylon (37:02.59) and Christy Sevilleno (40:17.49) got the fourth and fifth spots.

Sevilleno used to rule the local races but dropped out of the running scene. Zamboanga’s Mary Grace delos Santos took over her spot and has dominated the local races. However, she is in Gen. Santos City for the Milo marathon qualifying race.

In the men’s division, Losiaboi posted 26:53.19 to top the 8K division over Joel Delposo (27:16.30) and Joebert Carolino (29:19.87). Joseph Miller took fourth place at 33:29.72, while Raymond Bontol was fifth at 35:26.62.

Philip Duenas ruled the 4K with 13:42.96, beating Ian Bernido by just six seconds. Rolan Batiancila was third at 13:55.83, while Carl Jeannette Malazarte (14:23.11) and Felix Lopez (14:52.05) got the fourth and fifth spots.

Joeyry Lee won the women’s title at 16:58.54, while Sheena Gacayan (17:44.14) and Jade Marie Recto (18:29.86) got second and third.

In the 4K Alumnae division, veteran triathlete Amale Jopson posted 19:31.42 to secure the top spot over Emeralde Hermosilla by just six seconds. Others who made the top five were Pamela Apuhin (21:55.34), Michaela Ada Alerta (23:10.99) and Abby Ponce (24:23.06).

In the kiddies division, Bernard Sy won the 5 to 7 category, while Karina Isabel Curvo topped the 8 to 12 class.
