MARCOS Highway may have been renamed Aspiras-Palispis Highway but its former name remains to be the more famous and the most remembered.
But the public has to be informed of the new name since this information could help, especially during times of emergency, said Councilor Fred Bagbagen.
Bagbagen said street addresses are critical information for administrative and emergency response, research, mapping, and navigation.
“There is a need to install proper street signs on the Baguio City section of the highway indicating visibly the Ben Palispis highway to properly disseminate that it is no longer Marcos Highway,” Bagbagen said as he asked the Department of Public Works and Highways to install the necessary street signs.
The Agoo-Tubao-Pugo section of the Agoo-Baguio Road has been renamed Jose Aspiras Highway while the Benguet-Baguio section has been renamed Ben Palispis Highway. (Rimaliza Opiña)
