Mayor warns city workers vs bribery

ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog warned government employees against receiving bribe money and other commodities in exchange of public service.

Mabilog admitted that he received several complaints on employees receiving bribe money. He stressed that the nefarious "kotong and lagay" practices must be stopped immediately.

"Let us bring honor and integrity to City Hall and the City Government by working closely with the people without any additional remuneration from them because we have pledged total public service when we join the City Government, he said.

He also said that he will lead in prosecuting cases and possible summary dismissal from the City Government service of those found to have received bribe money in exchange for facilitating the release of documents and other pertinent papers.

The Civil Service Commission also issued rules and regulations against graft and corruption in the government service and the practice subject for dismissal from employment, he added.

Mabilog said employment in the City Government is a great sacrifice in the service of the people and should not be taken as an opportunity to enrich one's pocket while working in the local government. (LCP)
