Mayor stresses importance of biz chamber

BAGUIO Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan assured the city's support for the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Baguio-Benguet chapter during its induction of officers last week.

Domogan said the PCCI, with its strong membership, plays a vital role in development of the city especially its growing economy.

According to Domogan, the concern of the businessmen is one of the priority concerns in the city's new executive and legislative agenda.

The city infrastructure will be enhanced in order to improve mobility around the city and nearby municipalities. "I know that businessmen doing transactions want quick results because every minute counts for you,' Domogan stressed.

The mayor added processing of business permits will be done as quickly as possible. "A one stop shop is set up to [hasten] documents [processing] and I see to it that all these papers are signed before I leave my office."

"Other concerns that we need to address are the development of our public market and Burnham Park, and we will review the realty tax schedule valuation to upgrade the schedule of fair market value of real properties," Domogan said.

PCCI Baguio-Benguet Chapter president, Engineer Mars L. Garcia, who inducted the organization's new members, said aside from networking, fellowship and bonding, the group can have one voice to influence their interest.

Garcia added the rewards of being an associate of the institution include the assistance of his fellow businessmen to improve his company. (Joseph B. Zambrano)
