Marijuana seized; minor shot dead

TWELVE ieces of rolled suspected marijuana cigarettes were seized Thursday morning at Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, while a minor was shot dead in Barangay Mansilingan, the police said.

Police Station 4 chief inspector Danilo Franicso identified the arrested suspect as Jezryl Remera, 18, of Sulom, Barangay Villamonte.

Francisco said the suspect was nabbed by members of Barangay Peacekeeping Action (BPA) force led by Rodel Gumban, 38, of Sto. Nino Village, and Roldan Ganadores, 37, of Purok Isla, Baranga Villamonte along Uno-De Mayo Street, of Barangay Villamonte.

He said the BPA personnel recovered from the possession and control of the suspect one transparent plastic sachet containing 12 pieces of suspected marijuana cigarettes.

In Mansilingan, a 15-year-old minor died on the spot Thursday when two unidentified suspects shot him while he was sleeping at the Old Public Market of Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Police Station 7 chief Inspector Emmanuel Misajon said the victim is a trisikad driver at Purok Kasilingan, Barangay Mansilingan.

Police investigation showed that the victim was sleeping when two men came and shot him without any provocation.

Misajon said the victim suffered a gunshot wound on his left armpit.

The police are still trying to determine the motive behind the shooting. (MAP)
