TAGUM CITY -- Davao Region's key economic movers that fast track the tourism industry drive their forces all the way to Mindanao's new economic hub, the palm tree city of the country and the music capital of the south, Tagum City to present and discuss the new tourism directions for the region being the engine of progress for new Philippines.

Hosted by the Department of Tourism (DOT) in Davao Region in partnership with Tagum Tourism Council and the City Government of Tagum, the assembly was successfully conducted with the result of the newly elected regional tourism council who shall seat for three years in the regional tourism arena as the policy making body and as industry consultant to the Regional Development Council in the region.

Empowered with strength, hard work, love, dedication and the spirit of volunteerism in spite of her busy schedules in her business and other community and cultural functions in Tagum City, Alma L. Uy, chair of Davao Region Tourism Council, shared her outstanding and excellent performances as the powered regional tourism industry leader with high hopes and happiness that finally the tourism stakeholders in the region once and for all have gathered in one place with all the forces and support in making tourism a vital player of economy in the region.

Applauded by the audience, Uy vowed support for the new set of officers after refusing to be nominated in the position by her colleagues along with her set of officers paving the way to the new leaders of the region.

DOT Davao Region Director Sonia V. Garcia presented also the region's tourism situationer the one she had presented to the new DOT Secretary Alberto Lim while the Consular Office of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City shared the best ways of how tourism promotion is being undertaken in their country.

The newly elected officers shall undergo a two month precision period of guidance from the past council considering that Uy has a huge number of regional programs and projects being implemented during her term of office as the tourism council head.

Formal oath taking of the officers shall be done during Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival to be administered by the newly appointed Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim as part of the Mindanao Travel and Tour Exposition 2010 in Davao City.

The assembly ended in the afternoon with a very big success through the effort of Uy and her staff with the partnership of Garcia and her staff.
