TWO bet collectors, one of them a minor, of illegal numbers game Swertres Lotto were nabbed Wednesday evening by elements of Kabankalan police.

Negros Occidental Police spokesman Rico Santotome Jr. identified Friday the arrested suspects as Anecito Eladio, 23, a resident of Barangay Upper Carol-an, Kabankalan, and his 16-year-old companion.

Police Superintendent Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan police chief, said the two suspects were nabbed by local policemen led by PO2 Rafael Sta. Ana while soliciting bets for the illegal numbers game in the said barangay.

Police recovered a tipster and a tally sheet of the illegal numbers game, one Honda TMX motorcycle owned by a certain Eleazar Emancino of Dumaguete City, cash amounting to P2150 believed to be bet money, and one cellphone.

Mabugat said the two suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9287 or the amended Illegal Gambling Law.

The minor was turned over to the local DSWD for proper disposition, while Eladio is now detained at the lock-up cell of the local police station.

Noppo Director Manuel Felix has declared an all-out war against all forms of illegal activities in the province, particularly on illegal drugs, loose firearms and illegal gambling.

Felix has directed all police chiefs, including the Special Operations Task Force of the Negros Occidental Police, to conduct operations against violators. (MAP)
