GSIS satellite regional office back in Bacolod

THE regional office of Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is now back in Bacolod City.

Under new regional director Mary Jane Terambula Javier, the office will serve the needs not only of members from Negros Occidental and but also those from Negros Oriental.

New GSIS chairman and former Negros Occidental governor Daniel Lacson confirmed this Friday, saying GSIS members and stakeholders will no longer have to go to Iloilo to process their papers and claims.

Iloilo GSIS Regional Office is also under the care of a new regional director in the person of Eleonor Drilon Gregorio.

The Bacolod regional office is now separated from the Iloilo regional office, Lacson said.

He assured GSIS stakeholders that the office is now back to its normal operation, which is faster and transparent.

"We are under instruction by President Benigno Aquino to look into the complaints of all the stakeholders of the GSIS that includes the pensioners, active members and those under the survivorship program," Lacson said.

He added that the computer system of the state-owned company crashed in the previous years and adversely affected so many GSIS stakeholders. This time, reforms have been made and processing with the GSIS is now faster, he said.

Lacson also expects that a time will come when members would no longer have to personally go to the GSIS office for their needs. With online GSIS services, members can transact and access online all GSIS services, whether for records, applying for loans or simply seeking GSIS-related information. (TED)
