Landmasters make final push in elims

THE cellar-dwelling Mandaue-Cebu Landmasters will need to come up with something big as they take part in the ninth and last elimination leg of the Tournament of the Philippines (TOP) on Wednesday at the Rep. Henry Dueñas Gym in Taguig City.

The Landmasters, who only have seven TOP points after seeing action in three legs, need an additional seven points to make the playoffs.

They will be competing with host Hobe Bihon-Taguig City, Treston-Laguna Stallions and Agri-Nurture-FCA Cultivators.

The M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Niños are No.1 and have the homecourt advantage with 49 points. They are followed by Misamis Oriental Meteors with 39, Cobra Energy Drink Iron Men with 26, Ascof Lagundi Cough Busters with 25 points.

Treston has 18, Taguig is next with 16, while the MP-General Santos City Warriors has 13. Ani Cultivators is second to the last with 12 points and Mandaue is at the bottom.

Except for the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, the final playoffs rankings will be determined after the final leg.

Both Taguig and Laguna could sneak into the third and fourth spot, and will enjoy a twice-to-beat edge against the No.6 and No.5 respectively.

Ani and Mandaue could also improve their standings if they perform well.

The No.9 team will be eliminated from the race while the No.8 will play the Niños.
