Young showbiz stars John Lloyd Cruz and Kim Chiu graced Saturday's opening as they enticed their fans to try and buy Cherry Mobile, the newest phone brand that is out to give other leading brands a run for their money.

Updates on President Benigno Aquino III's presidency

Both Cruz and Chiu signed up with Cherry Mobile as celebrity endorsers.

Cruz said Cherry Mobile is a new brand that has an edge of making it big in the telecommunications market.

"It's a new and exciting brand, and I want to grow with the brand," Cruz said in an interview during the opening.

He said he agreed to endorse Cherry Mobile as he sees the potential of the phone company in the market.

Chiu, known as the soap opera princess, also said Cherry Mobile is a new brand that can easily attract consumers, especially the girls.

"I like it because it's a girlie thing," Chiu said, who owns an X90 Cherry

Mobile blush phone, which she referred to as "My Kikay phone."

Both Cruz and Chiu said Cherry Mobile is basically a new brand to watch out for.

Don Landong, Cherry Mobile national sales manager, said though Cherry Mobile has been in the market for only one-and-a-half years, it is slowly getting popular among those who want phones with complete and high-tech features at very affordable rates.

"Cherry Mobile is owned by a group of Filipino and is made for Filipinos. We introduced Cherry Mobile because we see that the market is looking for an alternative brand with the best price," Landong said.

Cherry Mobile phones is sold less than P1,000 up to P9,999, depending on the model and built-in features.

"So far, we are satisfied with the sales volume of Cherry Mobile and we are trying our best to compete with the leading brands in the market by constantly innovating our products," he said.

Landong said Cherry Mobile phones are very affordable because the company doesn't spend on extra things like "maintaining offices in Singapore or Hong

Kong and paying the salaries of country managers, just like some leading brands."

"We don't have extra expenses that's why our phones are very affordable but without also sacrificing the quality of the product," he said.

Cherry Mobile phones are sold in key cities in the Philippines through its 15 concept stores and more than 30 concept kiosks.
