Ambasa, Constantino sparkle in HGS race

MONALISA Ambasa clocked a total of 44 minutes and 01 seconds to rule the women's 10K event of the 6th Healthy Living Run 2010 held on Sunday in an out-and-back course at the Holiday Gym and Spa.

Cynthia Haro submitted a clocking of 44.08 to grab the second spot while Emily Avergonzado clocked 49.34 to finish third.

HGS chief operations officer Ivy Fernandez, in an e-mail to this writer yesterday, said their male 10K runners got lost along the way as their route was almost the same as that of another running event that also took place at the same time with the HGS run.

Michael Ian Constantino shocked heavy favorite Philip Ocon for the men's open 5K run title. Constantino registered 14.56 while Ocon finished in 15.26. Jaime Valencia placed third with 15.29.

The women's 5K crown went to Bethloise Moralde, the sister of amateur boxer Engelbert who whon a bronze in the Asian World Youth Boxing Championships in Iran, who broke the time in 19.17. Criselyn Jaro (19.33) and Anne Castillo (22.33) followed in second and third, respectively.

In the 5K run for HGS members, Donald Dumalag bagged the men's title while Keilah Rodriguez took the women's plum.

Abrigon Kecir, meanwhile, ruled the 3K male run while Jocelyn Abrigon topped the distaff side.

Alber Calledo and his pet emerged champion in the 3K rum with dogs category.

The annual run was organized in celebration of the HGS anniversary. It was for the benefit the Davao Children Cancer Fund.
