BTTHS dominates Notafa age-group competition

BACOLOD Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) showed improvements in its elementary and secondary athletic competition, dominating the recently held Negros Track and Field Athletic Association (Notafa) age-group athletic competition at Panaad Park and Sports Stadium in Bar-angay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

BTTHS, whose runners have just captured the invitational track and field competition held in China, recently collected a total of 25 gold medals with three of its runners who took the individual honors in elementary boys and girls and secondary girls but gave up the secondary individual honors to the runner of Romanito Maravilla National High School.

Clyde Lim was the highest individual gold medals winner with three individual event and two as member of the relay team. He won the 100 and 400 meters despite settling for bronze in the 200 meters. He is a member of the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 that won the gold for his school.

His teammate Erica Lee collected three golds, two in individual event, the 100 and 200 meters and a member of relay team in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400, while settling for silver in 4 x 400 meters relay and long jump.

Michael Mana-ay of Ro-manito Maravilla Natioal High School was the highest individual medalist with three individual gold medals in 100, 200 and 400 meters and a member of his team that won the bronze in 4 100 and 4 x 400 meter relay.

Palarong Pambansa record-breaker Mary Anthony Diesto of Bacolod Tay Tung High School collected five individual gold medals, three in individual events (100, 200 and triple jump) and two in relay team (4 x 100 and 4 x 400). Her teammate Raye Deanne Kaye Ferrer also added five gold medals, three for individual events (200, 400 and 800 meters) and a member of relay team in the 400 x 100 and 400 x 400).

Chad Lim, twin brother Clyde also won the elementary boys 200 meters and a member of 400 x 400 relay, while Ken Lorenz Cabalhin of Ruxer won for him the elementary boys 800 and 1,500 meters.

Alexiz Soqueño of Ruxer also won the elementary boys long jump; Jester Sangco of Bacolod Tay Tung High School took the triple jump and teammate Daniel Grapa won the discus throw and shot put.

In elementary girls, Jean Rose Arlos of Escalante City won two individual events in the 400 and 800 meters, and teammate Blessed Hope Halili won the discus throw and its 400 x 100 relay team also won the gold medal. Lyann Delima of Ruxer won the 1,500 meters and her teammate Wilma Jane Valencia won the triple jump.

In secondary boys, Zabdiel Maculob of Bacolod City National High School-A won two individual gold medals in 800 and 1,500 meters; Jun Montalbo of Bago City collected two gold medals in 3,000 and 5,000 meters, while BTTHS athletes namely Vicente Deloso lll and Martel Cheong won two individual gold medals each. Deloso won the long and triple jump while Cheong the discus throw and shot put.

In secondary girls, Stepha-nie Cadosale of Escalante City won for her three individual events, the 1,500, 3,000 and 5,000 meters, while Sheeva Mae Olarte and Frances Althea Uy both of Bacolod City National High School won the discus throw and shot put respectively.

This tournament is being held annually before the opening of athletic competitions in the district, area and provincial meet in order for every athlete to familiarize their respective events.

Notafa is headed by Roger A. Banzuela, while the tournament manager is Yolly Vingno of Bacolod City National High School.
