DAVAO City bets bagged a total of four gold medals, two silvers and three bronzes at the close of the 4th leg of the National Age-Group Triathlon Series held in Chali Beach Resort in Cagayan de Oro City over the weekend.

Davao's Ironman finisher Paulo Dino Ouano ruled the 20-24 category by clocking one hour, 44 minutes and 40 seconds. He bested Felipe Sajulga III and teammate Lee Brian Leyritana, who settled for silver and bronze, respectively. Sajulga timed 1:44:32 while Leyritana finished in 1:54:29.

Sherlyn Bacus beat her teammate at Metro Lifestyle Gym (MLG) Cherry Araneta for the 20-29 title with a record of 2:08:28. The latter registered 2:34.25.

Another MLG entry, Christopher Eyao, emerged champion in the 35-39 event. He breasted the tape at 1:38:48 while his rivals Ronald Parantar (1:45:15) and Romwell Roque (1:59:10) finished in the next two spots.

Sixteen-year-old Mary Paulene Fornea, a So Kim Cheng outstanding female awardee for swimming, finished in 2:01:16 to rule the 16-19 division.

In 20-24 category, Jefferson Tabacon of Tagum toppled Davao City entries Peter Villocino and Marjun Balaite for the crown. Tabacon, 20, clocked 1:41:05 while 21-year-old Villocino made 1:43:20. Balaite had a clocking of 1:54:27.

Businessman Ed Leuenberger Jr., owner of Boondocks Bikes located at the Matina Town Square, settled for the bronze in the 40-44 category ruled by Donald Robosa. Karl Fortich got the silver.

Cagayan de Oro's Banjo Norte, who earlier captured the 14-19 gold, also dominated the over-all ranking followed by Eyao, Tabacon, Villocino, Carl Valles and Ouano, who landed in the next five spots.

A total of 48 triathletes from all over Mindanao competed in the race.

Ouano, meanwhile, thanked the Holiday Gym and Spa that hosted his training for free, Sunkist Trihard and Jade Green Agri Ventures. HGS had supported him since 2008 when he joined the Ironman in Malaysia.
