Recent Cebu visitors were the Ambassador of Belgium and Mrs. Christian Meerschman who came to preside at a cocktail reception celebrating the National Day of Belgium with the Honorary Consul of Belgium and Mrs. Enrique Benedicto. Venue was the Arctic Room of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.

Ambassador Kulkumut Singharana Ayudhaya of Thailand was in town to interact with the Thai students in the different universities here. He had dinner with them at Royal Krua Thai restaurant in Banilad Town Center. The resto has transferred from its old corner location to the opposite side, in between Bo’s Coffee and Yellow Cab.

Cathay Pacific’s Cebu manager Camilla Taylor along with the airline’s top 10 travel agents went on a trip to Hongkong for the Awards Night. It was a unique celebration held onboard one of the Swire yachts, the Taikoo Sky which cruised from Victoria Harbour to Penny’s Bay at Hong Kong Disneyland. The awardees included Aida Uy of Cebu Fortune Travel, Cherry Callelero of Grand Holidays, Grand Hope’s Baby Dy, Pan Pacific’s Gwen Po, Leisure Travel’s Sheila Colmenares, Worldwide Travel’s Paquito Chua, Blue Horizon’s Cecile Saa, Travelways’ Alan Carvajal, Globalink’s Andrew Teh and UniOrient’s Bryan Felicisimo. Also with the group were passenger sales supervisor Connie Cimafranca and passenger sales executive Jewel Sanchez.

Now enjoying the cool clime of Hawaii is Ninette Garcia who is there to help son Dr. Jerald Garcia and his family relocate to Honolulu after several years in Ohio. She will be away for a few months so hubby, former mayor Alvin Garcia, will follow shortly. Before she left, she was honoree in a series of despedida gatherings.

Dubai-based bank executive Jonathan Gutierrez came home to wed his childhood sweetheart Dr. Dehlia Domosoylo who is a practicing obstetrician-gynecologist here.

Dr. Geñing Solano gathered kith and kin at their well-appointed home in Beverly Hills for her birthday dinner. Making a special trip here for the red-letter date was US-based daughter Dr. Susie with husband Dr. Jovie Ignacio and son Carlo.

Davao-based daughter Dr. Hope S. was also very much around. Of course the celebrant’s hubby Dr. Monching S. was dancing attendance on her.

French artist Henri Eteve has an ongoing exhibit at La Galerie of Alliance Francaise de Cebu at the QC Pavilion in Gorordo Ave. Exhibit ends on Sept. 30.
