Korean files robbery case vs biz partner

CHARGES of robbery with intimidation have been filed by a Korean national against the suspects who robbed him on Saturday afternoon in Upper Puerto, Cagayan de Oro City.

Charged were Allan Lachica, a native of Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur who was the alleged mastermind of the robbery, a certain Dodong and four other John Does.

Chong Kyo Lee, 58, a native of Seoul, South Korea, was on his way to Mambatangan in Bukidnon when the suspects, on board a motorcycle, flagged down his rented sports utility vehicle upon reaching Upper Puerto in Cagayan de Oro City.

The suspects then tied Lee and the SUV’s driver and took away some P9 million cash, laptop and three cellphones.

SPO1 Bladimer Agbalog, investigator of the Criminal Investigation and Detection

Unit (CIDU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), said Lee formally filed his complaint Tuesday morning at the CIDU office.

“The Korean national positively identified the ones who robbed him as members of Lachica’s group. It was him (Lachica) who set him up although he was not there during the commission of the crime,” Agbalog told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.

Lee was supposed to meet someone in Mambatangan for his mining business during the incident.

Lee told police investigators that Lachica was the one who negotiated with him and supposed to be his “business partner” for the mining business.

Agbalog said after the case was filed, CIDU is now expanding its intelligence network to arrest Lachica and his group who have gone into hiding.

“Although it would take us long to trace them, but we will arrest them in due time,” Agbalog said. (Annabelle L. Ricalde)
