50 drivers, conductors undergo seminar on anti-bus robbery

About 50 Ceres bus drivers and conductors in the province underwent a seminar on anti-bus robbery at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Noppo) Headquarters in Barangay Estefania Bacolod City Thursday.

Inspector Raymundo Franco, public information officer of Noppo, yesterday said Senior Superintendent Samuel Nacion launched the “Oplan Abri” to address the robbery incidents involving Ceres bus in different areas of Negros Occidental.

Most of the participants are from Vallacar Transit Incorporated.

Franco said the bus drivers and conductors were given tips and techniques on how to examine would-be criminals to pre-empt untoward incidents.

After a series of robbery hold-ups involving Ceres buses, Noppo assigned a policeman, in civilian dress, to different buses to ensure the safety of passengers.

Franco said the seminar is a continuing program of Noppo and there will be a next batch of seminar for bus drivers and conductors.

On Monday, Noppo will also launch the hotline accessibility system and barangay contact system at headquarters.
