3 teeners stab 2 jeepney drivers

TWO jeepney drivers were injured Tuesday morning along Gatuslao Street, Bacolod City when they were mauled and stabbed by three suspects who were all 18 years of age, police said.

Police Station 1 Police Chief Inspector Luisto Acebuche identified the victims as Erry Avelino, 32 and Angelo Jimenez, 19, both residents of Sagay City, Negros Occidental and temporary residing at Purok Kabuhi, Barangay 10, Bacolod City and both drivers of public utility jeepneys plying the Taculing-Central Martket route.

Acebuche said that Avelino sustained multiple stab wounds on his left chest and back of his body while Jimenez sustained stab wounds on the right portion of his stomach.

Both victims were rushed in a Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for medical treatment.

In the follow-up operations after the incident, three persons, suspected to be responsible for stabbing and mauling of the victims, were nabbed.

The suspects were identified as Joemar Magbanua of Purok Langka, Barangay Banago; Robert Almarin of Purok ECC Villas, Barangay Alijis; and Reggie Roxas alias "Bunso" of Purok Magnolia, Barangay 7, Bacolod City.

The three suspects also sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies when they tried to resist arrest. They are now presently detained at Police Station 1 lock-up cell prior to the filing of charges against them.
