DA told to meet with sugar board (5:05 p.m.)

MANILA -- Malacanang on Wednesday ordered the Department of Agriculture to meet with the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) regarding the proposal on sugar price hike.

“(Agriculture) Secretary Proceso Alcala will call a meeting with the Sugar Regulatory Administration and discussed that proposed hike,” said Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda.

The SRA is pushing for the suggested retail price for refined sugar to P54 per kilo from P52.
