BCC Arnis bags 6 gold in 5th martial arts world fest

BACOLOD Christian College Arnis team who arrived Tuesday grabbed 6 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals in the just-concluded 5th Filipino Martial Arts World Festival held July 25 to August 1, 2010 in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Among the BCC Arnis players who boasted Bacolod City and the Province of Negros Occidental in the tournament include Criselle Marie Bulanon (gold - standard anyo category and bronze - labanan category), Jeneall Ciocon (gold - duwelo category and silver - pakitang gilas category), Daniel Ciocon (gold - duwelo category and bronze - labanan category), Jan Louis Arguelles (gold - synchronized anyo category) and Paul Adrian Angeles (gold - synchronized anyo category and bronze - standard anyo category).

Meanwhile, BCC head coach Master Leo Uyanib also won the gold medal in the duwelo category and silver in the pakitang gilas category.

The festival was participated by arnis artists from countries like Brazil, Russia, Switzerland, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and the national players from the National Capital Region and Iloilo City.

On the other hand, parents, guardians, and sponsors of this team highly applauded the training and their latest performance in this international game despite the late preparation which only started in summer of this year.

The team, headed by Ronald Tanlogon, BCC Assistant Coordinator for Sports; head coach Uyanib; and Assistant Coach Ricardo Denisa Jr., is set to pay courtesy call to Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Governor Alfredo J. Marañon Jr. next week.
