Lawmaker inaugurates new DPWH buildings

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -— Third District Rep. Aurelio Gonzales, Jr. led Thursday the inauguration of the new buildings at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office in Barangay Sindalan.

Gonzales said the two buildings and adjacent renovation of existing facilities here were constructed at the cost of some P5 million.

Gonzales said he wanted the DPWH here to be able to address its logistical support base through building facilities.

“This is our DPWH regional office, the major implementer of most of the development projects of the government. We want the DPWH to be able to accommodate its staff base and other operations. It would be ironic if the DPWH implements major infrastructure projects but it does not have enough building facilities of its own,” Gonzales said.

The building projects include the existing District Engineering Office and two small building annexes. Other rehabilitation works include the roofing and painting of two satellite offices.

The DPWH, for its part, was thankful for the new facilities funded by Gonzales. District Engineer Jose Datu said Gonzales has been active in addressing not just the need of his constituents in the third district.

“We are thankful to Congressman Gonzales and his staff for the support being extended to the DPWH. We are proud to work with an official who always finds time to help others,” Datu said.
