2 persons nabbed for loose firearms

TWO persons were nabbed for illegal possession of firearms in Circumferential Road, Bata, Bacolod City, the police said Friday.

Police records identified the arrested suspects as Aljun Almencion, 23, of Purok Mahimaya-on, Barangay Bata, and Joven Rey Laurita, 23, of Purok Pinetree, Zone 1, Barangay Bata, Bacolod City.

The police said that Almencion was apprehended at Remy Videoke Bar along Circumferential Road, Barangay Bata, at about 12:30 a.m. Friday for possessing two .38 caliber ammunitions and two 5.56 caliber M-16 ammunitions. He was nabbed during the routine implementation of the PNP’s “Operation Bakal” by elements of Police Station 3 led by officer-in-charge Police Inspector Jose Mulleta.

On the other hand, Laurita was nabbed for illegal possession of a Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver without serial number loaded with four live ammunition. He was arrested by Police Station 3 personnel conducting police visibility operations at Purok Bayabasan, Circumferential Road, Barangay Bata, about 12:45 p.m. last Thursday.

Both suspects are presently detained at Police Station 3 lock-cell prior for filing of charges against them.

Meanwhile, Roberto Española, 54, of Marietta Village, Barangay Taloc, Bago City was collared Thursday evening by virtue of a warrant of arrest for estafa case issued by Judge Francis Guanzon of the Bacolod Regional Trial Court. His bail was fixed at P40,000.

Espanola was nabbed at Barangay 3, Bacolod City by elements of Police Station 1 headed by Police Chief Inspector Luisito Acebuche. The suspect is presently detained at Police Station 1.
