Gueco: Belle

Every morning at 6 a.m., I pray with my beloved departed ones.

Imagining the sunrise “aslagan” gently unfolding her yellow rays, sea waves rolling in serenity, sky spreading its azure colors, thenceforth, I join my thoughts of love and connection with them. Mama Nitang, Salem, Mother Lucia, Ethel, Princess… ah the list is long.

Inspiring me to start this ritual was the beautiful scene in the movie ‘City of Angels’. The angels and spirits of the deceased rise at 6 a.m. to look at the waves and bless the new day. Touching my heart, this 1998 movie is a classic one. I can still hear the echoes of the movie theme song…

Angels song

r“In the arms of the Angel far away from here

From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear

You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie

You're in the arms of the Angel; may you find some comfort here I n this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness

That brings me to my knees

In the arms of the Angel far away from here

From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear

You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie

In the arms of the Angel; may you find some comfort here

Honoring Her Memory

Yesterday, August 7, our classmate, BELLE MABANTA MORALES, departed from our mother earth to return to our Creator.

Feeling the sadness mixed with solemnity, sorrow melded with serenity, silence blended with acceptance, we are one with her loving family during these times. Truly, she is now an angel who lights up the pathway of eternity.

During our high school days, Belle exuded quietness, caring ways and simplicity. What a compassionate presence.

Today, we, the Holy Family Academy batch 1970, joins her loving and valiant husband Esto, their children, siblings and relatives, in honoring angel Belle.

May we find comfort in the magnanimous legacy of benevolence and friendship she gave to all of us. We salute you and we love you -- Angel Belle.
