Councilor dares airport authorities to review security plan

ZAMBOANGA City Councilor Melchor Sadain challenged airport authorities to double check their security plan as the police continue to investigate Thursday’s bombing incident.

Two people died while 24 others, including a provincial governor and a British national, were injured when a bomb exploded outside the airport’s arrival area shortly after 6 p.m. last Thursday.

Sadain, a councilor from District I of Zamboanga City, said it is about time the airport officials review their security plan to ensure the safety of the travelers from and to the city.

Sadain said the security plan and enforcement should be from the inside and to the airport’s surroundings outside, citing the entire area belongs to the management of the airport.

He said the airport management could not say that their responsibility is limited inside airport because they even collect fees from the public as well as well-wishers. (Bong Garcia)
