AT LEAST 60 taxpayers and eight institutions in Northern Mindanao were recognized by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for their significant contributions to the collection performance and successful implementation of its tax administration programs.
Esmeralda M. Tabule, regional director of BIR Revenue Region (RR) 16, said the top taxpayers have been singled out by the different Revenue District Offices (RDO) of the region for showing their support and commitment to the BIR by paying not only the highest amount but also the correct taxes last year.
“Recognizing them is one way of showing BIR’s deep appreciation to their efforts in realizing this year’s theme of the BIR’s 106th anniversary celebration, which is ‘Tamang Buwis ay Bayaran nang Maibsan ang Kahirapan’ (Paying The Correct
Taxes Can Reduce Poverty),” Tabule said during the recent awarding ceremony held at the BIR office in Bulua, this city.
She said the recognition was given to the top taxpayers in different types of taxes, which include income tax, value added tax (VAT) and percentage tax in the individuals and corporations categories, as well as government withholding agents from the national government agencies (NGA), local government units (LGU) and government owned and controlled corporations (GOCC).
Also recognized were supporters and partners who had helped the BIR in its different campaigns to raise the taxes such as the Tax Compliance Verification
Drive (TCVD), Run After Tax Evaders (RATE), “Oplan Kandado” and Making the
Public Know, etc.
Tabule said the area of coverage of BIR Revenue Region 16 include the following Revenue District Offices: RD0 97 in Gingoog City for Camiguin and the eastern part of Misamis Oriental; RDO 98 in Cagayan de Oro City for western Misamis Oriental; RDO 99 in Malaybalay City for Bukidnon; RDO 100 in Iligan City for Lanao del Norte; and RDO 101 in Ozamiz City for Misamis Occidental.
Due to proximity, RDO 102 in Marawi City serving the province of Lanao del Sur has been placed under the jurisdiction of BIR Revenue Region 16. (PIA)
