Suspect collared for loose firearm

A 45-YEAR-OLD man was nabbed for illegal possession of firearm Tuesday morning by local policemen of Police Station 8 led by Chief Inspector Placido Gentoleo.

The suspect was identified as Alberto Barrientos, of Purok Paghedait, Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City.

Police recovered from his possession a .45 caliber pistol with serial number 10981278 and three magazines loaded with six live ammunition.

Gentoleo said the suspect failed to present any pertinent documents for possessing the said firearms.

He added that Barrientos was disarmed by a security guard identified as Christopher John Ramos with the help of pump boys and bystanders in one of the gasoline stations in Barangay Tangub after the suspect threatened them with his firearm.

He said Barrientos is presently detained at Police Station 8 for the filing of charges against him.

On the other hand, Marvin Destajo, 35, of Purok Tilapia, Barangay 3, Bacolod City was also nabbed Sunday afternoon for violation of RA 9287 or anti-illegal numbers game act.

Inspector Jeffrey Attunaga, chief of Police Station 2, said that the suspect was nabbed while participating directly in illegal numbers game jai-alai.

Recovered from his possession were three betting stubs, one ballpen, 22 pieces of tipsters with code name Buenos, and P18 as bet money.

Attunaga said the suspect is presently detained at Police Station 2 prior to the filing of charges against him.
