THE University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) will be joining the running boom with its first Recoletos Run on Aug. 29 at the Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu.

Their event is the expanded version of a run they held last year.

“We had a run before but it was exclusively for students and it was in line with the engineering department’s celebration a year ago,” said organizer Engr. Ruel Militar.

The run is part of the USJ-R Grand Alumni homecoming on Sept. 9 to 11. They will also have an invitational golf tournament and a bowling event.

The run expects to draw thousands of participants and the proceeds will go to the Missionaries of the Poor Sawang Calero, St. Ezekiel Moreno Special Learning Center at USJ-R Basak Campus and Asia Renal Care.

Militar said alumni president Engr. Segismundo S. Exaltacion Jr. and the rest of the members of the board has shown interest in holding the event annually.

The run will have the 3K, 5K 10K men’s and women’s open, while the alumni will have a special 5K division.

Those who register before Aug. 14 will only pay P200, while those who register late will pay P250.

USJ-R students may pay P150 if they want a singlet or only P50 if they opt not to have one.

Interested participants may register at the USJR- Alumni office, Engineering Department, the Cebu City Sports Center and Runnr.
