Parent leaders to get incentives

PARENT leaders of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) will receive incentives starting July until December this year through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

Thirty-two parent leaders of 4Ps, a poverty alleviation program run through the Department of Social Welfare and Development, will receive P160 every month as an honorarium for their work as implementers or volunteers of Family Development Session (FDS), a once a month meeting of 4Ps beneficiaries.

With the implementation of 4Ps in the city, 653 household beneficiaries have been assisted through cash grants while they meet conditions of the program. Among these conditions is attendance to a monthly FDS or formerly called as Parent Effectiveness Session (PES).

The City Government has been implementing PES on the previous years. With the implementation of 4Ps, the city has seen its great potential in reaching poor families.

With the presence of parent leaders who leads a cluster of 4Ps beneficiaries, implementation of FDS has become easier and manageable. It also helped in the augmentation of the staff in the City Government.

The CSWDO headed by City Social Welfare and Development Officer Betty Fangasan then came up with the proposal to supplement the parent leaders with cash incentives for their outstanding work. The parent leaders will receive P120 for every two hours in the monthly conduct of FDS.

The CSWDO will also assist in the monitoring and supervision of the FDS.

4Ps is the national poverty reduction strategy of the government, which aims to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty through investment of human capital such as health, nutrition and education. The Department of Social Welfare and Development is its lead implementing agency. (Jeb Escalante)
