Of cities and decadent youths

EL SALVADOR City, the site of the 50 footer Divine Mercy Statue is now the second component City in Misamis Oriental. The first is Gingoog City. Soon we will have new cities like the progressive and peaceful towns of Opol, Tagoloan, Villanueva and Claveria, Misamis Oriental, in the second district of Misamis Oriental. Such towns will be converted to cities, be developed and be part of a Metro Cagayan de Oro, hopefully, like Metro Cebu and Metro Manila.

God is good all the time as the Catholic Charismatic would say to the people of our country, despite the fast decline of the morals and values of our young today.

Worldly pleasure of unbridled sex, wanton drug taking and wild drinking of beer and intoxicating drinks,  have become fashionable in many of today’s young, that to my mind the teaching of sex education in the elementary and secondary levels of our nation’s public schools must be indefinitely postponed, so that the intelligent opposition of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and other enlightened groups be taken seriously before any final decision on the highly controversial program be made by President Noynoy’s administration, which was just inherited from the Arroyo regime.

A society which has decadent moral values can never please God. And if our leaders don’t realize the urgency of putting a stop the fast slide of the young’s wickedness, then the lessons in the Bible have not at all dented the pleasure loving minds of the young.  Tragic disasters and massive calamities will plague our nation and the world, until the people will be on bended knees ready to reform their live’s direction and purposes, for it to be God centered.

Wild fires in Russia, rampaging floods in China and Pakistan killing thousands, the global economy melt down,  the unmitigated violent conflicts in almost everywhere in the world,  are to my mind but wake up calls,  from God - are still unheeded by the people, then the road to the world’s destruction will surely happen sooner than we think.

The City Hospital of El Salvador City is in disrepair; it needs urgently to be upgraded so sick people from the poorer sector of the City can be attended to.  As to why Jun Baculio, a three-term congressman, did not allot amounts from his congressional fund simply is lack of concern on his part. The City Hospital of El Salvador pales by comparison even to the town clinic of Opol, Misamis Oriental.

I am hopeful that with the new administration of Lawyer Boy Tan, the dilapidated poor version of the hospital will be face lifted and stocked with medicines that the poor and the middle class of the City will not have to go to Cagayan de Oro City to seek treatment.  It mystifies me why a basic need of El Salvador City was not attended to by the City Officials concerned. This is gross negligence to say the least.

Mayor Boy Tan has a brother in law, Dr. Jesus Seriña, Jr., a respected anaesthesiologist in Cagayan de Oro, who can certainly give advise as how to go about it.  To fast track the long overdue improvement of the hospital the good Mayor can always ask assistance of his cousin-in-law, Governor Oscar Moreno. The Governor is related by blood to Mayor Boy’s wife Violeta Seriña Tan, a pharmacist by profession.  Congressman Bambi Emano of the second district, I’m definite will cross party lines to respond in the realization to such a basic need of the people.

Former City Mayor Milet Baculio Almirante, now the incumbent Vice Mayor who was responsible for the cementing of the two lane road from the national highway to the back gate of the Divine Mercy Hills, should set aside her political differences with the new Mayor.  They must work hand in hand for what is best for God and the people of El Salvador City.
