MANILA – Jose Rizal University went steadier down the stretch to defeat pesky Emilio Aguinaldo College in overtime, 74-70, in the 86th NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Friday night.
The Heavy Bombers survived a near shutout from the Generals after unleashing a full court press during the extended five-minute playing time.
Raycon Kabigting topscored for the Mandaluyong-based squad with 14 points, including perfect charities and a crucial triple in overtime while Alex Almario added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
“Nakakafrustrate talaga ang larong ito. I don’t know what’s wrong with them. Habang tumatagal, lalong lumalala,” disappointed mentor Vergel Meneses told reporters.
