SM CITY Davao celebrates Kadayawan with a grand mall-wide sale offering great discounts on a wide range of items. For more time to shop, mall hours was extended to 10 p.m. Saturday, also on August 20 and 22, and until midnight on
August 14 and 21.
Apart from this great treat, SM Davao has lined up a smorgasbord of activities -- the perfect way to experience Davao during the festival season.
Agri-Trade Fair (August 1-31, SM Open Grounds) -- This is the coming together of the agriculture and floriculture sector in Davao and nearby provinces in a month-long fair where the sector gets to feature and promote their products. The trade fair has become a testament to Davao's bountiful harvest.
Kadayawan Photo Exhibit (August 13-20/August 30-September 3, Event Centre) -
An exhibition of photos telling stories of how the festival has evolved through the years. Featuring works by the elite Camera Club of Davao, this exhibit serves as a window to the entire celebration- Floral Float Parade, Indak-indak sa Kadalanan, Sayaw Mindanaw, Moda Mindanaw and other Kadayawan activities.
The Best of Sayaw Mindanao (August 16-20/ 5 PM, Event Centre) -- Discover the culture of the Davao tribes through legends and folk tales artistically presented in narrative dance performances. This year, SM City Davao brings together the best of Sayaw Mindanaw.
Flora Mindanaw (August 15-20, Mall Area) -- Making use of the rich flora of the city, the first Flora Mindanaw will gather the most prolific floriculturists in a containerized garden competition.
Party Pilipinas (August 21/5 p.m., Event Centre) -- Party Pilipinas celebrates Kadayawan. GMA's Sunday noontime party is set to rock Dabawenyos with the most sought-after Kapuso stars -- Kris Lawrence, Miguel Escueta, Sara Labahti, Sef Cadayon and Winwyn Marquez.
Daniel Matsunaga with Tema X Band (August 21/8 p.m., Event Centre) -- The latest Japanese-Brazilian hunk import joins Kadayawan. With his smoldering hot looks, Matsunaga will surely heat up the already hot festivity. This activity is proudly presented by Mario d' Boro.
Moda Mindanaw (August 22/5 p.m., Event Centre) -- On its third year, Moda Mindanaw can only get bigger. This showcase of talents by the best designers of Davao and nearby provinces will stir your interest as they make use of local indigenous materials in fashion-forward numbers. More than a competition, Moda Mindanaw aims to promote creativity and ingenuity among the talents in Davao. This event is made possible by SM Department Store, Coco Cabaa, Gibi Shoes and Greenwich.
Slipper Design Competition (August 22/12 noon, Event Centre) -- Dress your flops up and get a chance to win prizes from SM Department Store. This design competition is set to provide an avenue for participants to express Kadayawan with their flip flops. Promo runs from until August 22.
