THREE games will usher in the opening of the Royal Mandaya Hotel Cup 2010 Inter School Mini Basketball Tournament set at 8 a.m. Saturday at Davao City Recreation Center, formerly Almendras Gym.
The Doa Pilar Learning Center (DPLC) battles Magallanes Elementary School in the bracket B curtain raiser followed by short brief opening rites, where Mayor Inday Sara Duterte Carpio was invited to be the guest speaker.
The next game pits Assumption School of Davao against top seed Ateneo de Davao University in bracket A, while Holy Child School of Davao clashes against Emar Learning Center in the main match.
Chief organizer Glenn Escandor and Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) regional director Regino "Boy" Cua are also expected to grace the event.
The top two teams in each bracket will advance to the crossover semi-finals where the winners will arrange a titular showdown that offers a cash prize of P15,000 to the champion.
The next three placers will settle for P10,000, P5,000 and P2,000. (MLSA)
