PLANS are underway for the improvement of the City Camp lagoon drainage system but the results of a feasibility study concerning plans to widen the tunnel have yet to be made public.
Before any construction commences, Councilor Fred Bagbagen said the City Planning and Development coordinator, City Engineering Office, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau and representatives of the Mining Associates Inc. should update the City Council about the status of its 2001 study.
In 2001, the Baguio City Government commissioned these offices to conduct a comprehensive engineering feasibility study of the City Camp lagoon drainage system.
The group's expertise was tapped to evaluate and design available options and determine the most appropriate drainage scheme for the City Camp lagoon.
The group is also tasked to determine measures to solve the Crystal Cave instability, as well as to validate and assess previous development recommendations to provide the City Government with information so it can be guided intelligently as the council decides on the various options being considered.
The request for a status update is also to be apprised of program's status, progress and their recommendations. (Rimaliza Opiña)
