Palace to launch OP website today

MALACANANG will launch a reorganized and innovative website for the Office of the President (OP) today, Monday.

Presidential Communications Group head Sonny Coloma said the website (www.president.gov.ph), which carries official functions of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, will be opened for public access at 12 noon.

"It has social media network such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. It has updates on all the events happening in the OP. The President's official appearances and even foreign trips," he added.

As of this posting, only a countdown timer, indicating the remaining time before it will be officially available, is posted in the site.

The website will also serve as a medium for public to air sentiments and opinions regarding the present administration.

President Aquino earlier stressed the importance of having feedback mechanism for him to know what the people needs.

"The media will know how user friendly this website is. When they go to the website, they could also use other features in it," he said.

CA confirmation

Meanwhile, Coloma expressed confidence that he and other officials of the newly-created Communications Office will passed the Commission on Appointments (CA).

He said he and Ricky Carandang is ready to face the Congress to undergo oversight functions and defend their budget.

"This is merely part of the check and balance in the Constitution. It is not an issue to us and it is a duty of every government official serving the public," Coloma stressed.

As heads of the communications department, Coloma said he and Carandang will mostly likely defend the budget before Congress.

"Even if it is one or two, they don't require for as long as we answer all their questions," he said.
