Betting game collector, driver shot dead

A COLLECTOR of "Last 2" illegal betting game and a habal-habal driver were shot dead in two separate incidents in Davao City.

The collector was shot dead at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in Buhangin Gallera, while the driver was shot dead at around 10 a.m. Monday outside Jollibee, Matina Crossing.

Sr. Inspector Felixberto Magallon of the Buhangin Police Station identified the collector as Arturo Cantabaco, 51, resident of Masea Village, Barangay Duterte, Agdao.

According to Magallon, gunmen shot dead Cantabaco while he was waiting for a taxi on his way home with friends. The victim had just won in a cockfight.

Police found three empty shells of a caliber .45 gun at the crime scene and P15,000 cash in Cantabao's pocket.

The shells are in the custody of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco), while the money was handed to the victim's niece, Shiela Casarie.

Meanwhile, the Talomo Police identified the slain driver as Ronald Molina, alias Mac-mac, 22, a resident of Kilometer 7, Barangay Matina Pangi.

Molina was seated on his parked motorcycle waiting for passengers when a man shot him twice in the head and on the left leg with a caliber .45 gun.

The gunman fled onboard a motorcycle with no plate number. The body of the victim was brought to Collado Funeral Homes in Bangkal. Police are still conducting further investigation of both crime incidents. (AD)
