Dear Mr. Editor:

ALLOW me first to express gratitude for the continuing support and coverage your paper has given to Clark Development Corporation and the Clark Freeport.

I am writing you in reference with your banner story entitled “Ricafort: COA report on salary inaccurate” which came out in your August 12, 2010 issue.

Updates on President Benigno Aquino III's presidency

In fairness to the Commission on Audit, the Clark Development Corporation did not pose questions on the COA report per se that reflected the salaries of government officials.

We would like to clarify that CDC President and CEO Benigno N. Ricafort never made that statement when he was interviewed by two of your able staff Mr. Rey Navales and Mr. Chris Navarro, who even took photographs of Mr. Ricafort and copy of his pay slip.

Allow me to cite a direct quote of Mr. Ricafort's statement which appears in the third paragraph of the story: "Unfortunately, the NEWS ITEM (emphasis by the undersigned) is inaccurate and unfairly featured a story damaging to the reputation and integrity of our company," Ricafort said in response to the published news item.

Thank you very much for taking time to get our side of the story on this issue. The officials and employees of CDC are likewise thankful for publishing this clarification.
