Villar aid sought by Itogon officials

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Itogon officials are asking Senator Manny Villar's help in the construction of a 2-storey building erected in Ampucao here.

Mayor Oscar Camantiles as well as the local council backed the request of the Ampucao Faulty Club and the Parent Teacher Association asking Villar to allocate funds for the construction of the building.

The local council favorably endorsed the resolution with copies sent to the Provincial Board and Department of Education Regional Director Josefina Tamondong.

Itogon is a first class municipality in the province and according to the latest census, it has a population of 48,778 people in 8,588 households.

The municipality hosts the Binga Dam in Tinongdan and is known for the

Balatoc Mines Tours in Virac. Other tourist spots include the open pit mines in Loacan, hot spring in Dalupirip, Mt. Ugo in Tinongdan, Level 1300 swimming pools in Poblacion with hot steams and bath and the mummies in Domolpos also in Tinongdan.

Itogon’s main source of livelihood is mining; second is agriculture. (Ma. Elena Catajan)
