Salo-tabo opens at capitol grounds

TOP agricultural products in Misamis Oriental can now be bought at affordable prices at the provincial capitol grounds as the week-long agro-tourism fair dubbed as “Salo-Tabo sa Kapitolyo” opened Monday.

A two-day job fair also kicked off Monday in partnership with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Northern Mindanao and ABS-CBN Northern Mindanao.

The week-long activity also features the different tourist attractions in Misamis Oriental like the Lasang Secret Adventure in Initao, the Duka Bay Dive

Resort and river boating in Medina, the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in El Salvador and the Mantianak Park in Sugbongcogon.

The Salo-Tabo sa Kapitolyo was conceptualized in 2005 and is aimed at promoting the one town-one product  of each municipality in Misamis Oriental such as the

“bibingka” of Lugait and Manticao, “ginamos” of Libertad and Initao, seaweed health snack and dried fish of Libertad, Spanish-style sardines of Opol, blacksmith of Gitagum, bricks and handmade paper of Villanueva, “sinamay” of

Lagonglong, “buko” pie and coco products of Kinoguitan, “banig” of Binuangan, abaca and handmade paper of Salay, chicken products of Sugbongcogon, abaca and high-value crops of Claveria, bangus and coco sugar of Balingasag, and the native delicacies and organic coco sugar of Gingoog City.

Aside from the local municipal governments, other national government agencies, industry associations, rural based organizations and private establishments also participated in the exhibits.

To provide entertainment to guests and visitors at the Salo-Tabo, there are shows scheduled in the evenings at the Capitol Park

On the first night, there will be a cultural show to be participated in by the different municipalities while on the second night, Capitol University Dance

Troupe and Glee Club will make a presentation. On Wednesday evening, MOSCAT will showcase their best talents while on Thursday, Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines will sponsor “Sadsad sa MisOr.”

On the last evening, there will be a modern dance competition in time for the culmination program.

In relation to the tourism week celebration, there will also be a photo competition dubbed as “Hulagway sa MisOr” to be held at the Capitol lobby and a culinary arts competition at the Capitol Park. (CPO)
