2 men nabbed for loose firearms

TWO young men were arrested for illegal possession of firearms on Araneta Street in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City early Tuesday morning, November 14.

Collared were Isaiah Mendoza, 22, of Barangay Handumanan, and Ronel Baldonado, 22, of Barangay Felisa.

Records from Police Station 8 showed policemen were conducting mobile patrol when they sighted the suspects suspiciously walking in the area at 12:45 a.m.

When policemen approached them, both suspects attempted to escape but were cornered.

Recovered from them were two improvised firearms loaded each with live ammunition of .9 mm, and two live ammunition of the same firearm, and backpack.

Senior Inspector Wilfredo Benoman Jr., head of Police Station 8, said they are still verifying if the two suspects were involved in robbery incidents in the city.

Mendoza and Baldonado are detained at the station for filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Young man dies

A 21-year-old man who was shot by an unidentified man at Bangga Saling, Calong-Calong Zone 1, Barangay Singcang-Airport last Saturday expired at a hospital on the same day.

Benoman said Jason Pacete of Purok Sicugon, Barangay Singcang-Airport died around 3 p.m.

On November 11, Pacete’s group passed by the Old Airport where the suspect’s group threw stones at them.

He was then shot by one of the members of the other group.
