Drug ‘pusher’ yields P80T shabu, caught

A 48-YEAR-OLD suspected drug dealer was arrested and illegal drugs worth almost P80,000 were seized in an anti-narcotics operation in Barangay Cambaro, Mandaue City last Friday afternoon.

Jerry Igot, also known as Didoy, of Sitio Angasil, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City was arrested in a buy-bust at 4 p.m.

The operation was conducted by personnel of the Mandaue City Police Office-City Intelligence Branch (CIB) and the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (Caidsotg) led by Senior Insp. Janelito Marquez.

During the buy-bust, a police decoy bought a medium sachet of shabu allegedly from Igot using marked money.

Police said they seized from the suspect were the medium sachet and 61 sachets of suspected shabu placed inside a brown pouch.

Supt. Josefino Ligan, chief of CIB and Caidsotg, said the illegal drugs are worth almost P80,000 based on the value set by the Dangerous Drugs Board.

The motorcycle used by the suspect was also placed in police custody.

The buy-bust was conducted after two months of monitoring the suspect’s alleged illegal drug activities. He allegedly operated in Barangays Cambaro, Looc and Umapad.

Around Cebu Province, six persons, including a 17-year-old boy, were arrested for drug-related offenses in Toledo City and in the towns of Consolacion and Alcoy.

At 12:12 a.m. yesterday, suspected drug pusher Ramon Lauron Retiza, 40, was arrested in a buy-bust in Sitio Sun-ok, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion.

The team led by Consolacion Police Station Chief Wilson Garcia Abot seized 16 sachets of suspected shabu from Retiza.

A .38 snub-nosed revolver with three bullets was also allegedly recovered from Retiza’s possession inside his house.

The suspect’s live-in partner May Ann Pepito Garbo, 18, and his brother Jose Nonito, 47, were also arrested after a sachet of shabu was recovered inside the house.

Three minutes later, police arrested Jomary Huerte, 18, and Peter (real name withheld), 17, in Barangay Atabay, Alcoy, after the two yielded a sachet of shabu.

In Barangay Poblacion, Toledo City, Jacinto Caliguid Poloyapoy was caught allegedly carrying two packs of suspected shabu last Saturday afternoon.

Complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against the suspects.

Retiza will face a separate complaint for illegal possession of firearm and ammunitions.
