DAVAO City Government recently awarded its best barangay nutrition scholars as a culminating activity of the 7th Nutrition Month in the city.
During the flag raising activity last week, Mayor Sara Duterte and the City Health Officer-Nutrition Division awarded five of the city's nutrition scholars and barangay captains.
The scholars were awarded based on their 2009 Accomplishment Reports and their monitoring and response to the health and nutrition of the resident in their barangay.
Barangay Nutrition Scholar Federation president Jocelyn Luma-ad got the first place in her monitoring for Barangay Panacan along with Barangay Captain Arnulfo Apostol.
"We work hard with the barangay council to conduct health education for the people. We remind them of their responsibility as parents to take care of their children. And kung merong mga nairereport na mga pamilyang malnourished, especially para sa mga bata and mga nanay, pinupuntahan talaga namin," Luma-ad said.
Also awarded are barangay nutrition scholar Rosario Almendras and barangay captain Antipas Batingal for Barangay N. Guianga; Rosanna Enad and barangay captain Albert Baguilod for Catulan Pequeño; Gloria Leticia and barangay captain Mario Masanguid for R. Castillo, Agdao; and Adelaida Carupo and barangay captain Renato Gatchalian for Barangay 8-A, Poblacion. (Jade C. Zaldivar)
